The project aims to transform the existing schoolyard into a vibrant, multifunctional space that invites students, teachers, and parents to interact. By incorporating diverse features scattered around connected green spaces and play areas and leisure time activities, the redesigned yard offers a welcoming environment both during and after school hours.
By offering places to stay, eat, and socialize, the once merely transitional pedestrian areas become active places to be. Moreover, the informal play areas are adding character to the intermediate spaces and the existing diverse topography.
In the design process crucial were the meetings with the school principal and the placemaking workshops with the students. Their feedback provided valuable insights for shaping a space that truly suits their needs.
